A few weeks ago, Teddy (you know him as "macguy") and I were discussing new cameras. He was looking to buy one for himself, and I was looking to buy one for my mom for her birthday.

I ended up getting the same camera he got, the Canon PowerShot SX10IS. It's a 10MP point-n-shoot with 20x optical zoom and up to 80x digital zoom. I picked it up for about $380, along with an 8GB SD card for $15. I figure it's a good replacement for the old Fuji FinePix A205 I have, which was my first "real" camera.

Huzzah! Damn good camera, and it's on the list for a firmware mod at CHDK

Yeah, I'm happy with it so far. The only drawback right now is the fact that my SD card reader doesn't play nice with the 8GB card.
