Mail

With moving, I'm trying to figure out what to do about my mail. I don't receive a lot of mail, but it's enough for me to worry about this.

I'm going to be leaving my apartment on 7/29, but I won't be moving in to the new place until 8/1. I wonder if I can file a change of address to begin on 7/29, but also file a mail hold for 7/29 through 8/4.

Do you have any experience with this sort of situation? What do you suggest?

Just ask the post office what they suggest. Maybe you could have your mail forwarded to your new work address after 7/29 until you're ready to start receiving mail at your new place. And then you could cancel that and have it forwarded to your new place.

I should sort it self out, sign up to have the mail forwarded after the 29th, and it will take about 2 days to get to the new place. Give them a call and let them know whats up, the mailbox should be available.

I ended up going to the Post Office the other day, and they told me to just file a change of address the day before I move. They said the mail will be held for up to 10 days after a failed delivery, and that should give enough time for the CoA to clear.
